We all have moments where we think “someone should do this.” Sometimes, this thought won’t leave you and you decide to trade the safe and sound option of a well-paying job with suits and ties for the exciting ride of going it on your own and start chasing the dream of building a great, thriving and outrageously successful company. To make this happen, you will often need money. This talk will give you some pointers.
JVolker Hirsch is a partner at Amadeus Capital, an early-stage VC firm based in Cambridge and London, which has invested in well over 150 start-ups’ that resulted in a dozen or so unicorns (start-ups valued at $1b or higher) and a few dozen more complete failures along the way. Before entering the dark side, Volker co-founded 6 companies, helped raise in excess of $130m in venture capital and has 1 shabby exit to show for it. At ELSA International, he was Director for Fundraising in 1993 and VP Marketing in 1994.
